LIBERIAN REFUGEE IMMIGRATION FAIRNESS (LRIF) GREEN CARD

 

DEADLINE: DECEMBER 20, 2020

You must submit your request for assistance to Law Offices of Jonelle Ocloo by 5 p.m. on December 4th 2020 in order for us to file your application before the USCIS’ December 20th deadline.

 

HOW DO I PROVE THAT I’M A LIBERIAN CITIZEN?HOW DO I PROVE THAT I’M A LIBERIAN CITIZEN?

  • Liberian passport*
  • Liberian birth certificate* or Liberian certificate of naturalization

*If you don’t have a Liberian passport or birth certificate, this will be further discussed at your appointment.

HOW DO I PROVE THAT I WAS IN THE UNITED STATES ON NOVEMBER 20, 2014 AND CONTINUE TO LIVE IN THE USA?HOW DO I PROVE THAT I WAS IN THE UNITED STATES ON NOVEMBER 20, 2014 AND CONTINUE TO LIVE IN THE USA?

Here are some examples of evidence you can provide. Please prepare as many of the following documents as you can find:

  • Passport showing entry stamps
  • Form I-94, Arrival/Departure Record
  • Income taxes for 2014-2019
  • Social security records
  • Leases from 2014-current
  • Mortgage deeds
  • Car registrations
  • Employment records, such as union membership records or Paystubs from 2014-current
  • School records
  • Bank or financial records
  • Census records
  • Advance parole documents—-ONLY if you left the United States temporarily.
  • Insurance premiums and policies
  • Utility bills
  • Birth, marriage, and death certificates for immediate family members
  • Medical records
  • Military records or Draft records
  • Your current and/or previous work permits.
  • Your current and/or previous immigration documents
  • Copies of previous immigration forms submitted to USCIS

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR FAMILY MEMBERSELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR FAMILY MEMBERS

If you answer YES to all of the following questions, you MAY be eligible for a green card based on LRIF:

  • You reside in the United States
  • You are currently the spouse, unmarried child under 21, or unmarried son or daughter 21 years old or older of a Liberian citizen who meets the eligibility requirements for LRIF
  • You are otherwise eligible for an immigrant visa
  • You are admissible to the United States for lawful permanent residence or eligible for a waiver of inadmissibility or other form of relief.

This is only for people applying as a family member. If you do not have access to these
documents, we will discuss a plan of action during your appointment. The relationship had to have existed on or before 12/20/2019.

  • Spouse
    • Marriage certificate w/ certified English translation
    • Proof of bonafide relationship
    • Birth certificates for shared children
    • Joint tax returns
    • Leases showing joint residence
    • Proof of joint bank accounts
    • Proof of joint life insurance, bill payments, etc.
    • Family photos
  • BIOLOGICAL CHILD & STEP-CHILD
    • Birth certificate w/ certified English translation
    • Marriage certificate w/ certified English translation for parents
    • Proof of relationship
    • Family photos
    • School enrollment forms if parents are listed as contacts
    • Tax returns since 2014 if children were/are listed
  • ADOPTED-CHILD
    • Proof that legal adoption was finalized before age 16
    • Proof that parent had legal custody of you for at least 2 years

  • Marital History
    • Name of current and/or previous spouses, DOB, city and country of birth, marriage date, place of marriage, divorce/death date, place of that event
  • Children (all children of any age anywhere in the world)
    • Name of current and/or previous spouses, DOB, city and country of birth, current location
  • Appointment Fee

We are currently scheduling remote (not in-person) LRIF green card appointments on the phone or through Zoom video.

There will be no deadline extension. Start your application with LOJO as soon as possible!

First, you must complete our intake form (below). After completing the form, we will contact you to go over additional questions and discuss setting up an appointment. You must submit your request for assistance by 5 p.m. on December 4th 2020 in order for us to file your application before the Dec. 20 deadline.
